International pet travel · San Dimas

Taking your pet abroad? Start with the paperwork.

A move, a family visit, a trip together. Before your dog or cat travels overseas, get veterinary help with the health certificate, records and timing for your destination.

A request does not confirm an appointment or that your pet is ready to travel.

A clear place to start.

From your travel plans to the right veterinary next step.

  1. Share where and when

Send a health-certificate request with your destination, departure date and dog or cat’s details. You can start without uploading documents.

  2. Review the requirements

The veterinary team reviews your trip, records and next steps with you. Exams, tests or treatments and their timing depend on the destination’s rules.

  3. Arrange the visit and paperwork

Work with the clinic to arrange the visit and certificate preparation. USDA endorsement, when required, is a separate government step.

Before you travel

How far ahead should I start?
Contact the clinic as soon as you know where and when you’re traveling. Requirements and preparation time vary. If departure is close, call to discuss feasibility; an online request does not guarantee that your deadline can be met.
Is a vaccination record or pet passport enough?
A vaccination record alone does not replace a required travel health certificate. There is no universal U.S. pet passport. The veterinary team reviews which certificate and records apply to your trip; government authorities determine entry requirements.
What if we’re coming back to the U.S.?
Returning to the U.S. has its own requirements. Share your return plans before departure so you can review both directions. Do not assume the outbound certificate covers the return trip.
